In a strange twist of fate, The Strokes rejected band member Albert Hammond Jr’s songs for their latest album, forcing the guitarist to go for a solo release on his tracks.

Speaking in an interview in this week’s NME Hammond Jr revealed that several of the tracks on his debut album, Yours To Keep were rejected by the band, though not the band’s frontman and main song writer Julian Casablancas.

Said Hammond Jr; “I did suggest my songs (to the rest of The Strokes) once or twice and I got turned down. It wasn’t actually Julian who turned it down, it was the other members who didn’t like it.”

Despite the fact that they rejected his efforts, Hammond Jr claims there are no hard feelings.

Yours To Keep is due for release on October 9.
