With their former Blink 182 colleague Tom DeLonge concentrating on his new band Angels & Airwaves, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker have formed (+44).
The group, named after the international dialing prefix for the United Kingdom, will release its debut album, “When Your Heart Stops Beating” on November 14 via Interscope Records. The lineup is finished up with ex-Nervous Return member Shane Gallagher and Craig Fairbaugh, who also played with Barker in the Transplants.
“Mark and I have a natural chemistry after playing together for so long and it’s only gotten stronger,” Barker said in a statement.
On “When Your Heart Stops Beating,” Hoppus handled all the singing and also played guitar in addition to bass, while drummer Barker dabbled in keyboards.
After a handful of shows in Europe next month, (+44) will showcase its new material during an October 14 appearance at the Bamboozle Left festival in Pomona, Calif. Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard, Brand New and Thrice are also on the bill for the two-day event.
Pop-punk trio Blink 182, famed for its goofy on-stage antics and catchy tunes like “What’s My Age Again?” and “Brian’s Song,” announced in February 2005 it was going on “indefinite hiatus.”
