Dumped Doherty In CrackCrisis?

Pete Doherty, frontman of UK group Babyshambles has been dumped by Kate Moss for leaving rehab, and reportedly picked up by London police for drug possession.

The former Libertines performer told The Sun that Moss had dumped him after he walked out of an exclusive rehab clinic in Arizona – after she’d sent him there and paid for the treatment.

According to the tabloid, the 26-year-old was stopped in West London by police on Tuesday night. In his Jaguar, police found what appeared to be a crack pipe, and three rocks of what looked like cocaine.

Metropolitan Police declined to comment on Doherty’s case in particular, but confirmed that a 26-year-old male was arrested for alleged possession of class A drugs in West London. That male was bailed to a date in January 2006.

Doherty’s reported arrest came one day after he arrived back in the UK from the rehab clinic. He told The Sun that Moss was “furious” with him for leaving the treatment program, and said that she “went ballistic” when she discovered his actions, which led her to finish their relationship.

As much as I love your writing Luke, I think it's dangerous to start reporting about Doherty in a tabloid sense. Which is essentially what you did. He has 'broken up' with Kate a couple of times now, after all of which there has been reconciliation. I thi

How long do we have to keep hearing about this lad. Its like a good mate we all know that has to much to drink at the pub every Friday nite. After a while it gets boring, just like the crap he keeps making. Long live mediocre!

Dopecat: I don't think it's disingenuous to report on Doherty in matters like this as, to be honest, it seems that he's more interested in illegality than in the actual creation of music. It's hardly a vicious cycle if people are actually interested in

I hate the fact that I read this article, but I have a morbid interest in how fu*ked up Pete will get. A dirty, Infected, Weeping Naltrexone implant wound is getting there. (article in VICE) Well at least he keeps the UK press blabbing about something o

Each to their own dopecat, but I'm interested in stories like this - about the lives of the people who make music, as well as news about the music itself!

I think the fact that 5 people have commented on this story (after clicking on it) demonstrates that stories of this nature provoke interest and opinion. I for one am interested in light hearted, tabloid style news around characters I find interesting li

...I don't think the aim with a story like this is to make it more light-hearted. It's not exactly a hearts-and-flowers tale of boyish glee, after all. I would've thought that what's of interest is that he's a musician, and that this is a fairly serious e

I totally agree with Luke. This isn't a light-hearted situation at all. Who the hell wants to read a rock music version of a tabloid? I don't. I think this story has merit because it DOES affect the musicianship of Peter Doherty and could potentially
