First Listen: Bat For Lashes
Mon 16th Jul, 2012 in International News
Continuing her habit of releasing albums every three years, Natasha Khan, aka Bat For Lashes, will return in October with her third studio album, The Haunted Man, her first since 2009’s Two Suns.
Ahead of the release of The Haunted Man Khan and her band has premiered several new songs on tour in Europe. You can watch pro-shot video (no camera phones and shitty sound here!) of four new songs Rest Your Head, Laura, Oh Yeah, and A Wall taken from a recent performance at the Open’er Festival in Poland below.
Hopefully the new album will be quickly followed by the announcement an Australian tour that’s a little more extensive than her two night stand at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE last year. When FL caught Bat For Lashes at Vivid last year our review noted that “Vivid LIVE is all about showcasing talents who experiment with new ideas, sounds and spectacles, and that is exactly what Bat For Lashes brought to the Sydney Opera House. Creating ethereal and imaginative music, Bat For Lashes had a great deal to offer throughout what was a truly strong set… Bat For Lashes has a flair for transporting listeners into an alternate world that is at once haunting, ethereal and beautiful. Taking her place on the Concert Hall stage at the Sydney Opera House, the alluring songstress gave a performance that had the audience enchanted from start to finish. A singer songwriter who is continually linked to highly esteemed artists including Cat Power, Bjork and Kate Bush, this British artist certainly holds her own when it comes to creating music that is otherworldly yet, at the same time, stands in the realm of catchy pop.”
