Is the new Offspring single ajoke or just plain horrible?
Tue 1st May, 2012 in International News
A track titled Cruising California (Bumpin’ In My Trunk) has leaked on the internet and despite what the name may imply it isn’t The Black Eyed Pea’s latest crime against humanity, but rather a track from The Offspring’s forthcoming album Days Go By.
The song, which some fans are claiming/hoping is a joke, features an auto-tuned Dexter rapping lines such as: “The girl with the gloss and a g-string just like floss, she’s waving her caboose at you…” Sharing vocal duties with a Fergie sound-a-like the track makes Pretty Fly For A White Guy sound like a musical classic. Although we’re not sure what’s funnier – the song or reading the comments from fans as they come to realise that the song isn’t a joke.
The band only released the album’s lead single Days Go By last week, and it shares little sonic sensibilities with the inane Cruising California. Due out mid June the new record will be the first since 2008’s poorly received Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace.
