Damn! There won’t be a newAt The Drive-In album

As you know At The Drive-In have reunited and will be playing few festival sets this year.
Even though they’re only playing a few shows, there were inevitably rumours (or at least there was plenty of wishful thinking) that they might record new material but now the band’s absurdly prolific guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has ruled this out completely. Damn!
Rodriguez-Lopez told Kerrang! that the reunion as a pure “nostalgia thing” explaining that “It’s an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit me any more, but when you put it on again, it feels nice. It’s as simple as that… Will there be a new album? No, no, no. At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing – it’s songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s and we’re doing a couple of shows.”
As they haven’t (yet) announced any Australian shows you’re either gloating to your friends about how you managed to get your hands on Coachella tickets or you’re quietly moping and playing Relationship of Command on repeat as some kind of beacon to lure the band to play a show near you. But if we all play it at the same time they’ll tour here, right? Right?
