Obama’s election playlist
Sat 11th Feb, 2012 in International News
Following his impromptu performance of Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together at a campaign fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, Barack Obama has released his playlist for the 2012 election.
According to Billboard, by singing the opening words of Let’s Stay Together_ Obama boosted sales of Green’s 1972 classic by 490 percent, so the acts on his playlist can probably look forward to a boost in their chart polling.
The President’s playlist is filled with optimistic tunes including Raphael Saadiq’s Keep Marchin’, Florence + The Machine’s You’ve Got The Love, ELO’s Mr. Blue Sky and , almost inevitably, Bruce Springsteen’s ready made campaign anthem We Take Care Of Our Own.
Shockingly none of the songs that were on the playlist Obama received as a gift from Julia Gillard when he visited Australia last year made the cut. So it’s official – Obama doesn’t like Jimmy Barnes, Bernard Fanning, Eddy Current Supression Ring or Jessica Mauboy.
