Jack White unveils his solodebut

Almost a year on from the sad announcement that The White Stripes had “officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live” Jack White has unveiled his new solo single Love Interruption and announced the release of his debut solo album.

Love Interruption, produced by White at his Third Man Studio in Nashville, will be released as a 7” single next Tuesday ahead of the release of White’s debut solo album Blunderbuss on the 23rd of April. The single will come backed with non-album B-side Machine Gun Silhouette.

White says that Blunderbuss is “an album I couldn’t have released until now… I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colours on my own canvas.”

Happily bought LI! Imo, it's one of those songs that is good but not extremely contagious at first instant. Then, the more you listen to it, the more it grows on you. Now it's pretty much on repeat. :D

Well, I'll agree with some of you who say this is not White's best song ever, but I find it good enough. Love it.

Actually I just came to write that I listened to LI maybe some 50 times over the last 2-3 days and I'm still not sick of it. Wtf. O.o

He said he's bringing both the all male and all female bands.And deciding which one is going to play a few hours before each gig. He wouldn't give a specific date when he's coming though, but it's for a festival...

thanks for that. been looking for something like this. it's very very well written. the last time i anticipated an album this highly would've been Bon Iver's second album. i wasn't a big fan of his work with The Dead Weather, at least compared to the two Saboteurs albums and everything The White Stripes did. so it feels like it's been a while since he's done something that has gotten me excited.

i've been reading that the big let down from his early solo shows has been the lack of chemistry between Jack and his two backing bands particularly in comparison to those 3 other acts. i know you can't replicate the extraordinary chemistry between Jack and Meg but Saboteurs and Dead Weather came fairly close. so it is slightly concerning that things aren't quite clicking with this project. but it's only days i guess.
