Radiohead Australian tourrumours heat up

LOOKING FOR RADIOHEAD’S 2012 AUSTRALIAN TOUR DATES? – LOOK HERE

Ever since a dubious music industry source confirmed that Radiohead “has targeted [Australia] for their next tour”, we have been feverishly scouring the internet for clues that some time during 2012 the holy ones may be gracing us with their presence.

Now, three months after Yorke announced Radiohead would spend the year touring King Of Limbs , the band has confirmed a show in Taiwan for July 25th, the closest they have been to our shores for some time.

While no other dates are yet to be announced, numerous New Zealand websites are reporting that Radiohead will be heading Down Under in November; a rumour spurred on by singer Connan Mockasin who recently tweeted: “I won’t be coming home for camp but will be with Radiohead later in the year”

Speaking of Radiohead, I think there might be a little news of some further development:

RADIOHEAD ARE COMING TO AUSTRALIA
After 8 years of rumours, speculation and crossed fingers - triple j can finally reveal that RADIOHEAD will make their long-awaited return to Australian shores this November.

The seminal UK outfit will play just 5 shows - 1 in Brisbane and two each for Sydney and Melbourne - for one of the most anticipated tours of the last decade.

The run of shows come off the back of their eighth studio release, 2011's The King Of Limbs, but unlike their recent festivals shows - where they have focussed heavily on new material - the band will use these long-overdue shows as a chance to "showcase the band's multi-decade career in an aural and visual celebration."

At a time when bands are touring Australia more than ever - some even twice in the same year - Radiohead remain one of the only acts that have kept their distance.

To give you some context, this is what the triple j website looked like the last time Radiohead were in the country.

It's been 8 years since then.

For that tour, Radiohead played just 3 shows; two in Sydney and one in Melbourne. Before that visit, it had been another 6 years since they were last here in support of OK Computer in early 1998.

In fact, since the release of their first single 'Creep' in 1992 Radiohead have played in Australia just 3 times.

But in November, they make it 4 - here are the dates:

Tue 6 Nov
Vector Arena
Auckland

Fri 9 Nov
Entertainment Centre
Brisbane

Mon 12 Nov
Entertainment Centre
Sydney

Tue 13 Nov
Entertainment Centre
Sydney

Fri 16 Nov
Rod Laver Arena
Melbourne

Sat 17 Nov
Rod Laver Arena
Melbourne

Tickets for all shows go on sale Thursday March 1 at 9am (local time).
