Previously unreleasedRadiohead demos from 1986

Two previously unreleased Radiohead demos have surfaced online, giving you the chance to hear an 18 year old Thom Yorke singing accompanied by mournful saxophone soloing.

The tracks, Girl (In the Purple Dress) and Everybody Knows, were released on the band’s first demo tape 1986, recorded as On a Friday before Jonny Greenwood joined the band.

The YouTube user who has uploaded the tracks, klootme, has explains that demo was given to her husband when he was 17 and at school with the band. klootme has promised to upload the rest of the demo tape soon, giving us all the chance to hear more early Radiohead saxophone tunes including Fat Girl, Lemming Trail and Mountains (On The Move).

According to the Radiohead fan blog Citizen Insane the demo tape also features remixes that are “reportedly bizarre sort of dub versions where the vocals pretty much cut in and out at random.”
