Metallica on new Rihanna album

Rihanna snarls, “Let me grab my tit while you sit on top / Do you right here while the whole world’s watching” over a sample of Metallica’s Wherever I May Roam on a track that features as a bonus on her new record Talk That Talk.

The good girl gone bad and Coldplay collaborator worked with Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver legend Slash on her previous record Rated R. However it’s probably a bit of a stretch to imagine that she has been spinning Metallica records in her tour bus as the sample appears on her new record by stealth – the Rihanna track Red Lipstick samples the Chase & Status song Saxon, which had originally sampled the Metallica tune.

Nonetheless it does mean that your little sister is accidentally listening to a little bit of Metallica when she plays the new Rihanna album and that’s kind of awesome/bizarre/nice for Metallica’s bank balance.
