Black Sabbath reunionannouncement

Update:(12/11/11)
A re-formed Black Sabbath, including lead singer Ozzy Osbourne, have been confirmed announced as the second headliners for next year’s Download Festival joining Metallica on the bill. After Download they promise to embark on a worldwide tour. And they’re also planning to release a new album – the first with the original lineup in 33 years.

The four original members of Black SabbathOzzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – will all making a special announcement on Friday 11th November at 11.11am in Los Angeles. (That’s 11/11/11 at 11.11am for all you numerologists)

Musical opinion machine Henry Rollins will host the event at the Whisky A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip, where the band made their Los Angeles debut on the same date 41 years ago. Or course everyone expects the press conference to confirm the poorly kept ‘secret’ that Black Sabbath have reformed.

Early last month during an interview to promote his new book Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy, Ozzy Osbourne announced that that the reunion is happening, but he stopped short of making an official announcement. According to Ozzy, a Black Sabbath reunion was “is a very, very strong possibility. It’s in the very early stages, so we haven’t recorded anything yet. If it works out, it’ll work out. If it doesn’t, I’ll keep doing my thing.”

And back in August Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi told an English newspaper that “We’re really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we’ve been writing is really good. It’s more back to the old original stuff… ‘It’s all been very hush-hush. Ozzy’s been the worst at trying to hold it back.” However Iommi quickly tried to water down that news with a post on his official website which refuted the claims of an official reunion as “absolute nonsense”.
