Mazzy Star return

After a 15 year absence Mazzy Star are about to return with their first new material since 1996’s Among My Swan album.
Common Burn and the B-Side Lay Myself Down will be released as digital releases on October 31st, with a limited edition colour vinyl to follow on November 8th.
Earlier this year their song Into Dust, from the 1993 album So Tonight That I Might See made it onto the charts in England following its use in a mobile phone commercial and in the trailer for the video game Gears of War 3.
Mazzy Star’s most recent live appearance was in November 2003 at the Bert Jansch’s 60th Birthday, but singer Hope Sandoval toured Australia last year for a series of “wonderfully rich, but restrained performances”. Sandoval has also released two albums – Bavarian Fruit Bread and Through the Devil Softly – with her band the Warm Inventions and collaborated with Bert Jansch, Air, Death in Vegas and Massive Attack during the long gap between Mazzy Star releases.
