Terrence Malick and ChristianBale seen filming at AustinCity Limits

Acclaimed director Terrence Malick, is so reclusive that he makes Stanley Kubrick look like a Kardashian (and Stanley’s dead so that’s pretty damn reclusive). Anyway the genius behind The Thin Red Line, Tree of Life and Badlands has been seen filming something at the Austin City Limits music festival with Christian Bale and that’s enough to cause plenty of excitement and speculation in the film geek world.
Bale and Malick were seen filming side of stage during performances by several acts including Pretty Lights, Bright Eyes and Coldplay. There are even reports that Bale joined Fleet Foxes on stage a a guest bongo player. A video posted on Twitter also shows the film crew following Bale through the crowd during Cut Copy’s performance.
According to a comment posted on The Film Stage “there is a fenced-off area that VIPs and staff use to get access to the sound and camera area [at Austin City Limits]. Christian Bale, Haley Bennett, Terrence Malick and several cameramen walked into this fenced-off area and filmed for about 5 minutes. Christian stood very still, staring straight ahead, or at the sky. Haley danced around him waving a long black cloth around. We all thought it was very strange, and took photos.”
The details are extremely sketchy (which basically means that there aren’t any) but there is some speculation that Malick could be filming screen tests for a Jerry Lee Lewis bio-pic that he was attached to several years ago. Clearly Christian Bale to far too old to play Jerry Lee but whatever they’re plotting it’s sure to be very interesting and incredibly baffling.
