Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is trying to set up a supergroup/almost reform the original lineup of Metallica.
Mustaine – who was kicked out of Metallica in 1983 but has recently rekindled his friendship with the band and toured with Megadeth as part of the Big Four with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax – told Texas radio station The Eagle Rocks about his plans. “I’ve talked to Lars [Ulrich] and James Hetfield] about me and [Megadeth bassist] David Ellefson doing a supergroup record with Lars and James,” he explained, “James never said ‘no,’ [so] it’s still kind of out there in the air. I’m gonna keep hammering on him. It’s on my bucket list.”
Come to think of it why have a Big Four when we could just merge them all together?
In other Megadeth news the band has just released 25th anniversary edition of Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? and will release their thirteenth album Th1rt3en in November. The new album is the first Megadeth record since the return of bassist Dave Ellefson, who was part of the band’s classic lineup between 1983 to 2002.
