The tour promoters, Niche, have released a statement to confirm that Big Boi’s Australian tour will go ahead as planned – “In light of the reports this week surrounding Big Boi’s arrest in Miami we can confirm at this stage things are 100% going ahead as scheduled and Big Boi is looking forward to performing in Australia for all his fans for the upcoming tour. ”

Just weeks before his Australian tour, OutKast rapper Big Boi has been arrested in Miami for three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

TMZ reports that customs and border patrol dogs found ecstasy pills, MDMA powder and Viagra as Big Boi was leaving a cruise ship and that the rapper did not have a prescription for the Viagra.

Big Boi was released after paying a $16,000 bond and according to a CNN report re-tweeted by Big Boi his attorney has explained that “While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. ‘I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated’”.

Big Boi’s tour is due to kick off in Brisbane on Friday 26th August.
