KoL: “we have bigproblems”

Kings of Leon have cancelled 23 dates on their summer tour of the States citing frontman Caleb Followill’s “vocal issues and exhaustion” as excuse/explanation.

The cancelled shows will not be rescheduled, but according to the band’s press release the band plans to resume touring America on September 28th. The band’s Australian tour, which was originally scheduled for March and postponed to allow drummer Nathan Followill to recover from a shoulder injury, is due to kick off in early November.

The month long hiatus from touring comes after the band’s disastrous set in Dallas on the weekend where lead singer Caleb Followill abandoned the set, telling punters that he was leaving to “vomit… and drink a beer”.

Following the performance, bassist Jared Followill announced on Twitter: “There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”

Are the Kings headed for breakup?

correct berlin. i've never been one to subscribe to hating on a band just because the members are wankers. if they make music that i like, i will enjoy seeing them. aha shake is one of my top 10 albums and i'm really keen to see them in november.

KOL music has dwindled between bearable to boring since Sex On Fire. A breakup wouldn't prove to be a great loss for music whilst Followill is in this kind of state...

I didn't like Only by the Night. Not because they sold out or some bullshit like that, I just felt it was too rushed, too short and was stuck in one gear the whole time.

You do realise that they're all called Followill, right? Also, Come Around Sundown is so much better than OBTN it's not funny.

Yeah, fair enough. I still think it has some great tracks - Closer, in particular, is one of my favourite KoL tracks.

With out knowing the finer details of the issues with Caleb it just sounds like he's being a little bitch.

KoL cancel 28 shows

Kings Of Leon have cancelled their entire US tour following the onstage meltdown that occurred in Dallas on Friday.

Speculation over the band’s immediate future had been rife since Caleb Followill left the stage midway through the show and did not return. They had claimed the incident was down to heat exhaustion, and subsequently postponed a show in Houston the following night.

Now however, the band have pulled all of the forthcoming dates, and they will not be rescheduled, according to Billboard.com.

A statement from the band's publicist read: "We are so sorry to say Kings Of Leon are cancelling their entire US tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion. The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take a break."

It went on to say that the band's timetable does not allow them to reschedule the 28 shows, adding that they cannot be rescheduled due to the band's international tour schedule. Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. Tickets purchased online or via phones will be automatically refunded. The band will resume touring in Canada at the Rogers Centre in Vancouver[, on September 28. That show was originally scheduled for September 14."

The true reasons for the pulled shows had been unclear since Jared Followill admitted via Twitter that the band had ’'big problems'
