Blink-182’s new single

After a year of live shows Blink-182 have finally released a new single – Up All Night. The song was the first track the band wrote and recorded after their reunion in February 2009 and had been planned for release as early as July 2009, but was withheld because the band felt it was not complete. It’s the single first single released by the band since Not Now, which featured on their 2005 ‘best of’ record.

As for the long delayed new album Blink-182 claim that it will drop smack bang in the middle of their tour with My Chemical Romance which runs from August to October – so hopefully we’ll have a full record of new Blink anthems sometime in September.

Bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus told MTV News earlier this week that “We’re all so stoked to finally have music out that people can listen to. I think I’m probably more excited than anyone else in the world for the new single. Up All Night contains elements of everything we’ve done in Blink-182, and pushes further than we’ve gone before. Can’t wait for everyone to check it out.”

Is it just me or does that riff not sit with that song at all?

The song is pretty average. Thank god they auto tuned the shit out of Tom.

correct, it's a key or mode change - i used to play in a band with guy that loved doing that (and his songs sucked).

you can change keys in a song kids, just don't do it like this...

I don't mind that they've kept the direction from their self titled release, this song just has a no decent melody, no hook and a stupid out of place riff.

Hey guys! I've got an idea for a blink song!

You know that singer we have that sounds like a male version of Fran Drescher? Let's make him sound like an autotuned male version of Fran Drescher!

Also, fuck scales! I'm just going to close my eyes and play four random power chords.

Finally, I stole my daughter's diary, and I think we could pass off some of its contents as lyrics. People will listen to any pile of shit we release anyway.

this song doesn't really go anywhere or do anything. it's so vanilla.

the most frustrating thing is that it's not even bad enough to hate, it just kind of hovers and stews dormantly.

I wish I hadn't.

At least it makes some of Blink's older singles look better than they were by comparison.

For instance, I no longer think Rock Show and First Date are the two worst singles Blink 182 have released.
