Foo Fighters ridiculous 52page backstage rider

Foo Fighters have returned to the touring circuit with the released of the new album Wasting Light and with a new tour comes a new 52-page rider of (hopefully very tongue in cheek) backstage demands. There are plenty of jokes but 52 pages of demands is a little excessive, even for a prank!

According to the Smoking Gun the document “reaches new heights of absurdist brilliance [and] is brimming with jokes, insults, useless facts, self-deprecation, and pop culture references” but so far they’ve only given us the seventh section of the rider – the ten page ‘Field Guide To Food Coloring Book And Activity Pages’ prepared by Gus Brandt, the band’s veteran tour manager and a 15 page collection of highlights.

The illustrated ‘Field Guide To Food Coloring Book And Activity Pages’ opens with a drawing of Dave Grohl with a fork and knife in hand and includes pages offering bassist Nate Mendel’s insights on delicious breakfasts; drummer Tyler Hawkins explaining the difference between a good and bad salad; a maze that leads guitarist Chris Shiflett to a fully stocked catering table and guitarist Pat Smear giving the thumbs down to sweaty meats.

The activity pages close with an incredible dissertation on the standard of ice cubes in the dressing rooms from “Total s… to complete ecstasy” including “the monolith”, “the flaker” and the “chunklet”.

There’s also a day by day breakdown of the Foos diet, which reveals that the band will be chowing down on poultry in Perth in November if the rumoured tour dates are correct.
