Jack White working with PoliceAcademy star?

Update:
According to Pitchfork a representative for White has issued the following statement: “Rumors of Jack White’s participation in the film version of the Kinks’ Schoolboys in Disgrace are untrue. Jack White has great respect for the Kinks and the film’s director, Bobcat Goldthwait, but has no plans to record any music for the film as erroneously reported.”

Police Academy star turned director Bobcat Goldthwait is turning The Kinks’ 1976 concept album Schoolboys in Disgrace into a big-screen musical, which sounds like a bizarre train-wreck but the adenoidal actor will be joined by some very credible musicians on the project.

According to ScreenDaily The Kinks Ray Davies is executive producing and “Jack White is in talks to re-record the music.”

It won’t be White’s first foray into film – he wrote and performed Another Way to Die for the 2008 Bond film Quantum of Solace and has played small roles in Cold Mountain and Walk Hard.

Jack White is also working on Bob Dylan’s new Hank Williams tribute album, which will feature musicians including Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams writing music for unreleased lyrics left behind when Hank Williams died on New Years Day 1953.

White told ClashMusic that “I did a project with Bob Dylan: he put together twenty or twenty-five people to finish writing Hank Williams songs that only had lyrics and didn’t have music. I looked through all the piles of lyrics, and one of ’em just kept speaking to me. Sometimes you think it’s gonna be really hard to find my spot, and then it picks it for you. You don’t even have to choose it; it just picks it for you.”
