The Tea Party reform

One time triple j faves The Tea Party will reunite to perform shows in Canada later this year.

Lead singer Jeff Martin, who now lives in Australia and leads a new trio 777, abruptly left the band in October 2005 but will rejoin his former bandmates drummer Jeff Burrows and bassist Stuart Chatwood in July for their first shows in six years.

Their return show will be part of a Canada Day celebration where they will play support to INXS (lead by the Canadian J.D. Fortune) and Canadian rock band Theory of a Deadman. Sounds real good, eh?

I've got Transmission.

They were a pretty good band, but the last couple of albums saw them get dangerously close to becoming a precursor for Nickelback.

I've got Transmission.

Transmission has some good moments but first two albums are my favorites pretty easily although i do own the first 5 and i saw them live about 7 times between 95 and 99 and loved em

but that was then... seeing him play solo without drums last year doing all the tea party's softest tracks turned me off Jeff possibly forever.... but maybe this could resurrect my respect, or kill it off totally... the ladies man may have gone soft these days, he's certainly gotten a bit soft, and larger, in the guts region these days (sorry Jeff)

you can almost guarantee they'll come to Australia

I remember being a 14 year old kid who was just getting into music and I loved SOAD. I rmember telling my much older hippy cousin this and all she did for the rest of the day is tell me I should listen to The Tea Party and how I would love them because I like SOAD.

At that is my only experience with The Tea Party

The Tea Party are nothing like SOAD. They have a middle eastern influence in their early albums but I would never make the comparison to SOAD. The Edges of Twilight is one of the classic albums of the 90's.

They were at Alternative Nation? Man I was there both days and I don't even remember that. I remember Ween talking about mushrooms and not much else.

The tea party is cool. When I was doing my Diploma of visual arts, my teacher played them non stop. I became a fan without knowing it. Lets also say that they are good with bongs or acid.

i liked Lavish, I saw them support Super Furry Animals at the old 'upstairs at the Arena' space, with about 20 other people. It was one of my first ever gigs.

nah back then i didn't really follow bands and their random associated activities very closely. All I remember about Lavish is that gig, and that I've got their one album and I really like it.

Would be interested as long as it wasn't in huge venues. Always enjoyed the Tea Party. Splendor Solis is great.

Splendour Solis & Edges of Twilight are my fave albums of theirs. I like Transmission, but not as much. I think I was started to tire of their sound a bit by then. The Tea Party hold a massive chunk of the soundtrack to my late teens...quite nostalgic actually!

Is there any confirmation of a Tea Party tour cause it looks like a non event.

I saw Lavish support Mr Blonde in the Hunter St end of CBD/Jacks on King/Whatever its called now when I was around 18 or 19. I then saw them on my 21st on the Gold Coast. Though I went to see Muzzy Pep that night, they supported. Whilst Lavish were playing I was backstage drinking their bourbon lol

yeah they actually played the same sidestage (which was a superb little setup, great sound and the hill made great viewing access for all) as Ween!

...from memory (this is really testing it too) ween played about 3:30 or 4 in the arvo and the tea party played 3-4 hours later just as the sun went down (andd my 2nd trip kicked in)

i didn't even know they were about to come on, i just stayed cos the atmosphere/anticipation was amazing... and it was WELL worth it
