Pearl Jam demoing 25 new songs

Although Eddie Vedder is also working on a solo album of ukelele-based ballads titled Uke Songs and bass player Jeff Ament has just completed his own solo record and recorded an album with his side-project Tres Mts we’ll get to hear a new Pearl Jam album fairly soon.

According to an interview with Ament in Billboard the band has already recorded “a whole bunch of demos and everybody’s got a disc of 25 [songs] right now. April will be the time where we get together and learn to play all these demos and figure out which 12-15 of them float to the top. Hopefully we can get something done this year.”

Update: The Eddie Veder solo album will include cameos from Cat Power and Glen Hansard of the Frames and the Swell Season.

would love to see the boys touring aus again in 2012. eddie fell sick on their last tour so i felt a little let down and wanting more.

Yeah the 09 shows had nothing on 06.

I found it impossible to be mad at Eddie though, he seemed really genuinely sorry for being ill and still knocked out a 20 something song set.

I am loving these Pearl Jam 'birthday' celebrations so much! A new Eddie solo album = fucking awesome. A new Pearl Jam album = fucking awesome. Deluxe editions of Vitalogy and Vs = fucking awesome. And I have three Eddie solo shows coming up. Woo-hoo. Best band ever!

Don't know what show you saw but the Brisbane gig was mind blowing. It was obvious Ed wasn't feeling the best, constantly hocking lugies onto the stage but I couldn't fault his voice or enthusiasm one iota. Having said that, I was right at the front surrounded by all the 10C fanatics who had followed them around the country and they were saying that it was the best show of the tour.

Any new Pearl Jam news is awesome, and for them to have already recorded 25 new songs so soon after Backspacer another tour seems more than likely in the not too distant future. Time for everyone to shell out their $50 and resubscribe to the 10 Club!

i saw them in sydney. they cut the show short by about 8 songs cos eddie had completely lost his voice. my respect for eddie increased 10 fold that night for how much he pushed himself to give us the best show possible. there aren't too many stadium trotting rockstars who would do that.
