Fleet Foxes/Grizzly Bearcollaboration

While we impatiently await the release of the new Fleet Foxes album Helplessness Blues, due out in early May, the band’s lead singer/guitarist Robin Pecknold has released a trio of tracks I’m Losing Myself, Derwentwater Stones and a cover of New Zealand folk singer Chris Thompson’s Where Is My Wild Rose can be downloaded without guilt.

Releasing the songs on Twitter, Pecknold explains that the “three acoustic songs [were recorded] a couple weeks ago in LA with my friend Noah. [They] aren’t Fleet Foxes songs, but I didn’t know where else to disseminate it. Pretty mellow jams. One is a duet with my friend Ed Droste from the amazing band Grizzly Bear, one is just a new solo jam, and one is a cover.” I’m Losing Myself (Feat. it was only yesterday, i was trying to explain how good the rediscovery of melodies and harmonies have been to modern music. fleet foxes are pretty much the best exponents of the "new" west coast sound. those songs were just beautiful.

Fleet Foxes are the best of the recent indie-folk movement, along with Bon Iver, I can't think of anyone else who stands out as much as those two

Actually I would have given that prize to Grizzly Bear...

I only just bought the Fleet Foxes debut this year and it hasn't been off my stereo, really nice album.

The Grizzly Bear show that I went to at City Recital Hall was superb last year.

There was nothing boring about it.

This is the point where I proclaim that I like both Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes, and the universe will now explode as fans of the two seem to be mutually exclusive.
