New My Morning Jacket albuminspired by the Muppets

Barn storming rockers, and facial hair enthusiasts, My Morning Jacket have been inspired by the Muppets on their new album Circuital.
Frontman Jim James told Rolling Stone that the album, recorded in church gymnasium in Louisville, is “the most live record [the band has] ever done” and offers “almost the exact opposite experience” to 2008’s Evil Urges.
James says that the record is warmer, more contained, more concise and, bizarrely, inspired by the sound of the Muppet’s house band Electric Mayhem. Apparently My Morning Jacket was recruited to record music for a “Gorillaz-style tour where MMJ would play behind a curtain while Muppet holograms bashed away onstage” and although the project sadly was abandoned several tracks written for Doctor Teeth, Animal and the felt gang will appear on the new album.
