Grohl and Lemmy lead Diotribute album
Wed 2nd Mar, 2011 in International News
When metal legend Ronnie James Dio died last year it was only a matter of time before the inevitable tribute album was announced.
His widow, Wendy Galaxiola, has now confirmed that the album is “unlikely to be released this year” but has revealed that the guest list will include Dave Grohl, Lemmy, Alice Cooper, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Black Sabbath’s Glenn Hughes, Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach and Chris Jericho.
Grohl perform the Black Sabbath hit Mob Rules and Halford will take on Rainbow’s Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll while Cooper plans to play a track from Dio’s time with early 70s blues-rock band Elf.
The album will raise funds for Stand Up And Shout, the cancer research charity founded by Galaxiola, which will also benefit from a Dio memorabilia auction in October.
