New Blur album “in sixyears”

Remember that story about Blur hitting the studio in January to record a new album? Well, they are recording new material just don’t expect to hear it anytime soon.

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has told NME that that Blur is likely to record new material this year but warned fans that it’s all very haphazard and experimental at this stage. “I suppose it might turn into an LP in six years or something,” he explained, adding that “Every now and then we like to meet up and record a few things. We just do stuff when we feel like it… maybe turning the tape recorder on and jamming around a few ideas.”

So will the 2010 single Fool’s Daythe first new Blur material in seven years – be a one off? Will bassist Alex James just spend his days making cheese and hosting harvest festivals? Or will the band just spring a new record on us out of the blue like Damon Albarn did with the latest Gorillaz album The Fall.
