The UK’s Liverpool Hope University has finally found a way for The Beatles fans to put their Fab Four trivia knowledge to good use.
After launching a Master of Arts in ‘The Beatles: Popular Music and Society’ back in 2009, the university has awarded fifty-three year old Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy from Canada the world’s first-ever degree in Beatles academia.
Of this one-of-a-kind program which examines the quartet’s music and cultural influence, Zahalan-Kennedy told the BBC, “It’s absolutely academic… The course was challenging, enjoyable and it provided a great insight into the impact the Beatles had and still have to this day across all aspects of life”.
