Glee Vs Kings of Leon: Round 2

Kings of Leon’s fire is flickering slightly, with a relatively low placing on the Hottest 100 countdown and a forced to move to ‘intimate’ venues, and now Glee Ryan Murphy has accused the group of being “assholes” who hate arts education (huh?).

In the bizarre outburst – presumably performed as part of a spontaneous song and dance routine –Murphy has told to the The Hollywood Reporter that he’s still annoyed by the band’s decision to ‘snub’ his show back in September last year. “Fuck you, Kings of Leon,” he whined,.”They’re self-centered assholes, and they missed the big picture. They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument. It’s like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of Glee all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music.”

Responding the tirade, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill explained to The Hollywood Reporter that the “whole Glee thing is a shock to us. It’s gotten out of hand. At the time of the request, we hadn’t even seen the show. It came at the end of that record cycle, and we were over promoting [ Use Somebody ]. This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee or to music education or to fans of the show. We’re not sure where the anger is coming from. We just said no to a license for a TV show, which we do a lot.”

His brother Nathan was a little more direct in his response on Twitter with the comment “Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7 yr olds how to say fuck.” However, following a backlash (something he must be getting used to by now) he issued an apology: “I’m sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or mysoginistic. I’m so not that kind of person. I really do apologize.”

Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist/Soundwave headliner Slash also won a bollocking from the Glee creator, who mocked Slash’s comments that “_Glee_ is worse than Grease, and Grease is bad enough” by sneering that “Usually I find that people who make those comments, their careers are over; they’re uneducated and quite stupid.”
