2011 NME Award nominees

With nominations for ‘Best British Band’, ‘Best Album’ and in three other categories, Foals lead nominations for this year’s NME Awards, while Arcade Fire are nominated for four awards. Over half a million NME readers are expected to cast their votes to decide the winners.

Proving the fickle nature of NME’s love, last year’s ‘Villain Of The Year’ Kanye West is up for the accolade of ‘Hero of The Year’; the album listed by the magazine as the best album of 2010 way back in December – These New Puritans’ Hidden – failed to receive a nomination for ‘Best Album’; My Chemical Romance’s Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys managed to win a nod in both the ‘Best’ and ‘Worst Album’ catagories; and Kings of Leon could take home the awards for ‘Best Band’ and ‘Worst Album’.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony on Wednesday 23rd February, followed by a gig two nights later headlined by ‘Godlike genius’ Dave Grohl with support from Cee Lo Green, Band Of Horses and No Age.
