Former Runaways singer, turned chainsaw artist, Cherie Currie is putting the finishing touches on a new album with help from Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum.
The album, tentatively due later this year, will be Currie’s first release since 1980’s Messin’ with the Boys, which she recorded with her twin sister Marie.
In an interview with VH1 Radio, Sorum revealed that the album will feature an star studded guest list: “Slash played on it, Duff [McKagan; Guns N’ Roses] played on it, I got Billy Corgan on a track The Veronicas are coming in, Juliette Lewis, Courtney Love.” The album will also feature contributions guitarist Nick Maybury and bassist Grant Fitzpatrick from Australia rockers Mink.
Sorum describes the album as “a great representation of Cherie’s voice…I told her when I said I’d produce it, ‘You have to trust me on this. You need to make a cool, current rock and roll album.’ The album is very much a rock album with some depth… It’s sounding great; I’m really excited about that.”
