Florence goes hip-hop

Florence Welch and Canadian rapper Drake are getting together both onstage and in the studio, making for an exciting collaboration.
The Florence and the Machine leader turned up as a surprise guest at Drake’s recent London gigs to sing the hook to Fireworks, the part sung by Alicia Keys on the studio version. There is also talk suggesting that the pair are joining forces on a new song that could end up on Florence and the Machine’s new album.
The mix-up of Florence’s soaring vocals with Drake’s raps, follows her collaboration with Dizzee Rascal at the Brit Awards and comments that she is entering a new phase and finding an unexpected muse in hip hop music. As she told FL in August last year “After being in America I have found I am into hip hop and the blues more than I thought. I am really digging the Rhianna and Alicia Keys albums at the moment. I think I have become quite obsessed with it, but not to the point of blurting out rap tunes of my own, but I am all for surprises.”
