Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters have debuted a batch of new songs during a ‘secret show’ at Paladino’s in LA. The set list included the new songs Dear Rosemary, White Limo and Back and Forth, which Grohl say is the working title for the new album.
Grohl was also joined on stage by the surviving members of Nirvana – Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear – for the first time in more than a decade, to play Marigold, the non-album b-side of Nirvana’s Heart-Shaped Box and only original composition that Grohl contributed to Nirvana.
According to Rolling Stone “The album’s first single These Days evokes classic Foo Fighters hits, but layered with startling layers of crunch and fuzz; tracks like Bridge Burning and White Limo, meanwhile, achieve levels of unhinged squall hitherto unreached by the band.” Grohl told th magazine that the album is a ballad-free zone: “When I was writing the riffs for this record, they were getting heavier and heavier. There’s something about getting older and taking a right on fuckin’ Discharge Avenue rather than turning left on Tom Petty Lane.”
