New Blur album in January?
Tue 21st Dec, 2010 in International News
According to the always reputable and trustworthy Sun newspaper, all four members of Blur – Damon Albarn, Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Graham Coxon – will hit the studio in January next year to record a new album.
The tabloid quotes an unnamed source who claims that “The lads will be getting in the studio next year. There’s no concrete plans regarding what they will do with the material, but if they’re all agreed it could become the first full Blur album to feature all four members in over a decade.” The last album by the entire group was 1999’s 13, as Coxon quit in 2002 during the recording of the Think Tank album.
The Sun’s unnamed source claims that “When they went into the studio earlier this year [to record the limited edition single Fool’s Day ] everyone was really pleased to discover that the old magic was still there. They would have liked to have done more, but Damon could not take part due to his commitments with Gorillaz. Now that he’s finished touring with the band he has more time on his hands.”
While this is certainly exciting news it’s probably best to treat it with a fair bit of skepticism – after all it comes from the same newspaper that claimed that the Darkness had reformed earlier this year following the birth of drummer Ed Graham’s imaginary son.
