Beside the obvious faves including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, we are stoked to discover that Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs has been slotted into the ‘Album of the Year’ category. The Canadian concept record masters are also up for the ‘Best Alternative Music Album’ prize, nominated beside Band Of Horses, The Black Keys, Broken Bells and Vampire Weekend.
Green Day picked up a nomination in the Best Musical Show Album category, bet no one expects that to happen when they were listening to Dookie back in the day! The Grammys are also displaying open-mindedness in their selection of nominees for ‘Best New Artist’ with Florence and the Machine and Mumford and Sons battling the fever of tween-star Justin Bieber.
Fleeting from the Beiber and Susan Boyle nominations to the relative quality of the Rock nominations, you’ll find also find FL faves including Kings Of Leon, Muse, Alice In Chains, Ozzy Osbourne, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Them Crooked Vultures, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Robert Plant and Paul McCartney.
