Black Keys are not Black EyedPeas

When the Black Keys won the prize for ‘Best Breakthough Video’ at the MTV VMA awards last month with the clip for Tighten Up it finally seemed that the Black Keys had broken through and been recognized by MTV. It had only taken six albums and more than a dozen singles, but they’d finally make that small step and won one of MTV’s Moonman trophies.
However that moment of glory was shattered when the trophy finally arrived at Black Keys headquarters last week with a plaque crediting the award to the Black Eyed Peas.
A sheepish MTV has apologized for the mistake (but not for Jersey Shore ) issuing a statement to say that they “sincerely regret the clerical error that resulted in The Black Keys receiving the wrong VMA awards. We are happy to report new trophies reflecting The Black Keys’ win are currently in development and they should receive them shortly. Lastly, we thank The Black Keys for their considerable patience and understanding regarding this matter.”
The Black Keys say that they “are super proud of fergie!!!”, but might try to get 300 bucks for the award on eBay.
