Beastie Boys: one albumdelayed indefinitely; anotherto come soon
Mon 18th Oct, 2010 in International News
The Beastie Boys’ Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 was originally scheduled for release on the 15th of September last year, but was shelved after Adam “MCA” Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his left parotid gland.
Last week Mike D’s wife Tamra Davis – the director of Billy Madison and Britney Spears’ movie Crossroads – revealed in a blog post last week that “Mike is back mixing his record, which means Adam Y is feeling better” leading to speculation that the album might soon be released.
However a statement issues by the band has curiously declared that the record “will continue to be delayed indefinitely” but that “ Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 will be released on time as originally planned in the Spring of 2011.” So we’ll hear the sequel first, despite the fact that cover art and a full tracklist, featuring collaborations with Nas and Santigold, had been issued for Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 .
The release of Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 next year will be the first Beastie Boys record since 2007’s The Mix-Up, and more notably the first album from the trio to feature vocals since the group’s 2004 tribute to New York and classic hip-hop To the 5 Boroughs.
