Bono saves Africa with LouisVuitton

Bono is one very busy man. This year in addition to his regular saviour of the world duties he’s bad back surgery, booked an Australian tour , written four albums worth of material including a Broadway musical about Spiderman

Now the fashion company Bono runs with his wife has launched a collaboration with Louis Vuitton. The couple set up the Edun fashion brand to create products sourced from African materials in 2005, but the business faltered and was struggling to pay its debts.

Thankfully Bono’s mission to help Africa has been helped by a major investment from Louis Vuitton. Bono announced the collaboration at Africa Rising Art Exhibition in Paris this week, declaring that “we are excited to draw attention to the new mood in Africa which is positive, optimistic and we’re trying to do more and more fashion there.”

Modeling a tribal-printed minidress from Spring 2011 Edun collection, Bono’s wife Ali Hewson simply explained that “Us and Louis Vuitton, we just wanted to do something together to celebrate Africa.”

The ad campaign for the fashion brand, shot by Annie Leibovitz, features Bono and his wife in an African savanna.
