Lion attacks Ash, Bloc Partyguitarist
Fri 1st Oct, 2010 in International News
Ash and Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack, who also fronts the pop/electronica/rock group Pin Me Down, had to be taken to hospital after being bitten by a lion on the band’s recent trip to South Africa.
Ash were in the country to play gigs in Johannesburg and Cape Town, when Lissack and frontman Tim Wheeler went to a wild animal sanctuary. Lissack was playing with a lion cub when it turned on him leaving a wound which required medical attention.
A spokesperson for the band revealed that this was merely the first in a series of incidents for the band in Africa. The hospital had to be sealed off within hours of the band’s visit with two patients dying from an unidentified virus and the band was involved in a car crash on the way back to the hotel.
