Tom Waits, Alice Coopernominated for Rock and RollHall of Fame

Tom Waits, Alice Cooper and Neil Diamond have finally been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In order to be eligible for nomination this year the artist must have put out their first recording in 1985 or earlier. Neil Diamond and Alice Cooper have both been eligible for over fifteen years, while Tom Waits put out his debut single in 1973 and has been eligible for 12 years.
Bon Jovi and Donovan are the other first time nominees for induction, while previously snubbed acts Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Donna Summer, Chic, J. Geils Band, Dr. John, Laura Nyro, Joe Tex, Darlene Love and Chuck Willis have also been put forward for induction.
The winners will be announced in December, and formally inducted on March 14th 2011 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
Last year the Hall of Fame inducted other the long-overlooked acts Genesis, the Hollies, Jimmy Cliff, ABBA and Big Day Out visitors The Stooges.
