Walking in AnimalCollective’s shoes
Tue 28th Sep, 2010 in International News
Worried that your battered shoes just don’t cut it in the indie show fashion stakes? Animal Collective has the perfect answer.
The Tobin, a slip-on shoe designed by Animal Collective’s frontman Avey Tare features a natural canvas body with a custom printed ghost pattern and comes with a cassette (what else?) of new Animal Collective music. The other members of the band will release their designs soon.
Proceeds from the sale of the shoes will fund the preservation of the Revillagigedo Archipelago off Baja in California. As fellow Animal Collective member Geologist explains: “After much discussion we decided we wanted to give money to a small under-funded organization to which we felt a personal connection.”
”[We] have been scuba diving together for a number of years and the Revillagigedos was one of the most amazing places I have ever seen. Hopefully this project will protect the animals of the Revillagigedos through at least one more fishing season and draw more attention to the global problem of illegal fishing.”
