Legendary Kinks frontman Ray Davies has been teaming up with some famous friends for an as-yet-untitled collaboration.
The record will feature re-imaginations of classic Kinks songs with Davies joined by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Frank Black, Spoon, Billy Corgan, Lucinda Williams, Mumford & Sons, Amy MacDonald and Paloma Faith. The album will also include one of the final recordings by the late Alex Chilton of Big Star.
However Davies’ website is keen to note that “ The Killers are not on the album, as previously reported by the press”.
While the full details about the record, including the title and release date, haven’t been revealed it has been reported that Springsteen performs a version of Better Things; Bon Jovi will be lending a hand on Celluloid Heroes; and Billy Corgan appears on a version of Kinks’ 1981 hit Destroyer.
