Stone Temple Pilots accused oflip-syncing

Fan footage of Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland falling off stage during a show in Ohio has quickly led to speculation that Weiland was lip-syncing.

Weiland fell during Crackerman, the opening number, of the band’s set at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, but despite the fall Weiland still managed to sing through it in perfect pitch.

Blabbermouth reports that one punter who attended the show claimed that Weiland “was fine and the show continued [but] as you can tell [in the video] he didn’t really miss a note after he fell”.

Cincinnati Frequency 94.1 radio host Lisa Biello was at the show and reported on her blog that “during another song (can’t remember which one!) it was pointed out to me that “the CD is skipping” by a man in front of me who had visibly lost a tooth at some point in his life…perhaps when Scott Weiland fell? Anyway, he continued to yell this and point at the stage…which made me pause for a moment and listen. Truth be told, I DID hear something “skip”...something in the background…like the drummer screwed up and missed a beat or two. It was definitely obvious. Yet the band kept going like nothing happened.”

Though she does note that “lip synching, using tracks or whatever, Scott Weiland and crew still know how to perform and I still had a great time.”
