Vampire Weekend sued by covergirl

Remember that cute girl on the cover of Vampire Weekend’s latest album Contra? Well she’s suing the band and photographer for more than $2 million for using the photo without her permission.
The bewildered looking blonde, whose name is Ann Kirsten Kennis, filed a lawsuit in the L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday. She says that the photo was taken way back in 1983 and she had no idea that it was featured on Vampire Weekend’s album until the band started promoting it last year.
Kennis claims that her signature on the photographic release form was forged, and she blames the band for not verifying the legitimacy of the document.
In an interview with MTV last October, Vampire Weekend talked about their interesting album cover: “We haven’t met her, we don’t know her. We’re not being very specific about it. The picture is from 1983, but the last album cover was from 2006, and they kind of look like they both inhabit the same world. When we saw this image, we just found it very striking. And part of it is the look on her face. It’s not about the color of her hair, or the fact that she’s wearing a Polo shirt. What makes it interesting is her face.”
