Pearl Jam taking a break
Tue 13th Jul, 2010 in International News
While performing in Portugal a few nights ago Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder told the crowd that the band would be taking a break for a while.
Pearl Jam emerged on the Seattle grunge scene at its zenith in the 90s and forever left their mark on rock history with songs like Even Flow and Jeremy.
They began their set at Lisbon’s Optimus Alive Festival and just a few songs in Vedder said to the audience in the local language, “Thank you for coming to our last show. Not our last ever, but our last in a long time.”
Pearl Jam’s publicist told Seattle Weekly that the statement is nothing serious: “He says that at the end of all tours, because the tour has ended. The remark may have gotten a little lost in translation.”
However, the group did tell a German magazine last year that the group would be going on hiatus.
It’s unclear whether the publicist was just covering Vedder’s tracks, but those who speak Portugese can watch the concert footage and decide for themselves.
