Queens of the Stone Age’snew album due mid-2011

Queens of the Stone Age’s leader Josh Homme has told Rolling Stone that once the band finishes its current run of European festival dates they’ll return to the studio to record a sixth album.

Homme claims that “I have ideas already, absolutely. It’s all about wiggling hips. The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of [the band’s most recent album, 2007’s] Era Vulgaris.”

The band aims to have the new out by the middle of next year.

Homme has also hinted that the group has also toyed with the idea of playing a series of ‘Don’t Look Back’ style shows featuring all five of their albums played live.

“We’ve talked about how much we enjoyed when Cheap Trick performed their first three records,” Homme explained, “and we’ve thought about doing five nights for each record. It’s been discussed — after a few shots.”

Homme has also recently revived his record label, Rekords Rekords, with plans to release a box set of the Desert Sessions albums.
