Grinderman 2 due in September

Grinderman will unleash a second album – the bluntly titled Grinderman 2 – in September.
Grinderman website declares that for Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos the band is “no hobby, no dalliance, and clearly no one-off; it’s a crucible, an experimental workshop, a disciplined orgy of ideas and action.”
In September last year Ellis revealed that Grinderman 2 is “very different from Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! and it’s very different from the first Grinderman album”.
Heathen Child, the first single from the Grinderman 2 album, leads the way and apparently “cuts a deep seductively heavy groove interjected with dazzling squalls of saw-tooth distortion. It abounds in lyrical imagery at turns lascivious, paranoid, philosophic, absurd and flat out abusive.” Sounds amazing!
The video for the single has been directed by John Hillcoat, who also helmed The Road and two feature films written by Nick Cave Ghosts… of the Civil Dead and The Proposition.
Hillcoat has also directed two strangely disturbing trailers for Grinderman 2.
Grinderman 2 is one of FasterLouder’s most anticipated albums of winter and is due for release on Monday 13th September.
