New Portishead album in 2011?

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has confirmed that the group will begin working on their fourth album this summer.
After their success in the 90s with Dummy and their self-titled LP, Portishead waited 11 years before releasing Third in 2008. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait that long this time.
Barrow told BBC 6 Music, “I’m writing for Portishead through July and August and I just want to bang on, get another record out. Hopefully it’ll be an awful lot quicker because we’re all older and wiser.” The trio has reportedly already discussed song ideas.
Despite claiming to love life without a label, Portishead recently signed a brand new recording contract. “It’s with a major. It’s with the biggest record company in the world,” Barrow said. “It’s with people we trust, which with a band is the most important thing.” Though he never explicitly reveals what label the group signed with, it’s safe to assume that he’s referring to Universal Music, the parent label for their earlier releases.
All of Portishead’s members have been keeping busy lately. Beth Gibbons has “been busy writing,” Adrian Utley recently wrote and performed a film score with Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory, and Barrow released an album with his new band Beak> and played with them at Glastonbury.
Fans are chomping at the bit for the album which Barrow said could be released “in a year’s time,” but so far no title or release date has been announced.
