Bearded rockers a terroristthreat?

Hirsute indie frontmen should be on the lookout, after two of their kin were questioned in the last few days in relation to terrorist activity.
Matt Berninger, slightly fuzzy singer for post-punk wunderkinds The National, caused the evacuation of Honolulu airport after officials spotted a novelty alarm clock resembling a bomb in his luggage.
Berninger – whose band is still riding a wave of praise for this year’s stirring High Violet – apologised to all those affected by the delay.
“I ultimately had to surrender the alarm clock to the TSA, but they were very pleasant and professional,” he said. “They had done a great job and I thanked them and they let me go.”
Meanwhile, bearded Eels frontman Mark ‘E’ Everett was questioned by London police recently, as he fit the description of a ‘suspicious person’ police were seeking.
Thankfully Everett was eventually released and will be free to tour Australia with The Eels this August.
“Not every guy with short hair and a long beard is a terrorist,” he said. “Some of us just want to rock.”
