According to songwriter Damon Albarn, Lou Reed and the Fall’s Mark E Smith will join the Gorillaz at Glastonbury.
After Bono sustained a back injury during rehearsal, Gorillaz were asked to replace U2 at the last minute. Festival goers can expect some big name special guests onstage for their performance, which is one of the main attractions at the festival this weekend.
Though he has never performed live with the band before, Lou Reed contributed vocals to Plastic Beach track Some Kind of Nature, and Albarn confirmed that Reed will be there when the band headlines the event’s Pyramid Stage.
The Fall’s Mark E Smith will also perform with the band live for the first time on their song Glitter Freeze. Albarn says of the performance, “We’ve got about 50 or 60 people at one point on stage. This might be the most spectacular Gorillaz show yet.”
