Weezer/Ryan Adams join forces

Can two (formerly awesome) wrongs make a right? Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo recently told MTV radio that the band would be collaborating with Ryan Adams for a new song.
In an interview on MTV radio, Cuomo announced, “I just wrote a song with Ryan Adams. Not Bryan, Ryan. It’s a very stirring and emotional and powerful Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with. ... He has a lot of wild and crazy energy. It’s gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record, for sure.”
It’s hard to believe that there have been six albums since Pinkerton, but Cuomo also admitted that fans will be “hearing new Weezer very soon.”
The group recently released a video for their new song Represent, the unofficial anthem of the U.S. World Cup team. Meanwhile, Ryan Adams just released a metal album and announced plans to unveil a few albums full of previously unreleased material.
It’s been a while since Weezer ruled the world of college radio, but as one FL reviewer put it, “For one neurotic, messy, inspired moment, they were the greatest garage band in the world and no-one even came close.” Here’s hoping.
